Exclamation NEW MEMBERS!!: Read this after purchasing your first Group Buy.

    Hello Newbie Member,

I welcome you to Group Insiders. I am not a moderator, just a member of this community that has helped me a great deal.

In that interest, I thought it would be helpful to orient you a little bit, because it seems like you all have the same questions, particularly after you've sent your money through the ether to some bloke you don't know for a course you're chomping at the bit to get your hands on.

BEFORE YOU POST asking "Please update us", "When do we get our GB download links" or worse some obnoxious or rude comment that is going to piss off our hard-working VOLUNTEERS, please read this carefully:

    Once a GB CLOSES:

    • The moderators must find a buyer
This is the person who will buy the product on everyone's behalf. This process takes anywhere from 4 days to as many as two weeks in some cases. This buyer is a VOLUNTEER. They don't get any incentives to do this work for us other than the natural benefits that come from being the one who purchases the product (i.e. interfacing with the vendor and any other perks that cannot be shared). SPECIAL CARE needs to be taken to protect the identify of the buyer, which sometimes delays the process further.
    • The buyer makes the purchase using their own funds
This process takes a nominal amount of time. It all adds up.
    • The process of downloading the gigabytes of data commences
Depending on where the buyer is, this could take some time. Not all vendors organize their crap well. Some drip-feed their content, too. The buyer must do this while dealing with their own everyday lives.
    • Printed material? (double or triple that above estimate)
If it's not digital and the buyer actually has to scan this stuff, this is what the poor bugger is doing for you after their everyday workday. Be extra-patient.
    • Whatever is secured is examined and uploaded onto iSaveLink
GI mods must protect the buyer from risk, so they have to perform some checks. This takes time, too.
    • People are contacted.
At that point, you will get a notification, sometimes by PM (private message), but always in the forum reserved for the buyers of the GB. You should have access to this forum. Go ahead and check now. If you do, then monitor that place for updates.

As you can see this takes quite a bit of time.

    How long?
From beginning to end, it can be anywhere from two weeks to as much as a month before you hear or get anything.

    >> IT IS NOT UNUSUAL if you don't hear anything from GI about a GB for a few weeks. IT IS NOT A CAUSE FOR ALARM. <<

    Just want an estimate?
There are a ton of variables that make it impossible to even provide estimates.

I know what you are going through. When I joined FUB/GI I bought 5 GBs in quick succession and a month later I had yet to see one byte of data. It was very unnerving. But the mods kept on reiterating that this is normal and I shouldn't be worried. And you know what? They were right. I've received every GB I've paid for, and in the instances where things have gone awry it was not because of GI but because of external factors beyond GI's control.

If you have paid and you are whitelisted (meaning you are able to access the GB private forum thread, a privilege that only the GB buyers have), you are fine. NO NEED TO CONTACT ANYONE. No need to PM a mod to check.
Just Keep an Eye on your "My GBs" tab in the home page to see if there is any updates about your GBs in case you haven't been messaged by the Staff. Here where you can find it:
    http://i.imgur.com/hce7VdM.jpg

    Bottom Line:

Please, please, please, resist the urge if you are a new member to get annoyed, demand an update or make a comment that isn't polite.
You are MORE THAN welcome to post a polite note asking for an update.
But here is a tip: If you are a new member and in the GBs with older members and they are not worried, YOU SHOULDN'T BE EITHER. Sit tight. It will come. NO ONE IS RUNNING OFF WITH YOUR MONEY.

    Hope this helps.

Great post, Kriton! Thank you. May be one of you can answer another question for me:
my log in info/user name is different from the one I have on a paypal account. Is it going to be a problem? Or as long as I have access to the paypal account email I should get everything? From my understanding, after the payment is processed and GB is closed, there should be a private message notifying everyone that links are available for download. Is that correct? So, if this is the case, then I don't even have to get anything via email.. I am new here and would appreciate help from those who have been on GI for some time already!

    xusha,
It makes no difference that your username is different that the one with your Paypal account. Mine is also different.
Once the GB is closed and all the material of the GB is ready for download, you will receive a PM notifying you of that fact, together with a link to the private thread for your GB.
Only those paid participants of the GB will be able to access the thread.
In the private thread you will find the links to download the material and members of the GB can also use their private thread to discuss the material if they wish.

Maybe a clarification about the "whitelisting" would also help...

Perfect -- just the sort of feedback I am looking for.
    I just added a clarification:

If you have paid and you are whitelisted (meaning you are able to access the GB private forum thread, a privilege that only the GB buyers have), you are fine. NO NEED TO CONTACT ANYONE. No need to PM a mod to check.

    How is that?

Is there anyway to let people know when the buyer has actually brought the product?

It would not be advantageous to do so, for reasons I have explored here:

    Just another point to add.

Please make sure that you use a 'primary email address'. Because you then automatically go on to a subscribed list when you reserve a seat for a GB.

This way, you are covering yourself just in case you don't get a notification via a PM. By having the primary address, you are also keeping up with your prescribed threads movement of the GB.

    __________________________________________________ ___________________________________________

Also, another way to gauge the movement of a GB and how quickly it will be available is to consider this...

The bigger and more expensive a Product or program is, means that there will be quite a bit of transferring, downloading, compressing amongst other things to get the product to the members. This means that a big GB will take longer, so you should allow anywhere from one week to a month and hopefully not much longer. There is a lot of things for the buyer to do, to bring it successfully back to the members. So, please keep that in mind.
Of course, if a product is smaller, then less time and everyone gets it quicker.

These are important elements to consider in regards to how long things take. We have had members in the past, so impatient, that they start abusing others and become demanding. They are soon shown the door.

Then as is the right way to think on it and put things into perspective. If you are that eager to get the product and can't wait or are so impatient, then no-one is ever stopping you from paying absolute full price for it.

As able, hopefully our members can continue contributing with their own little nuggets of info as our members (both new and old) pool their inquires within this topic. I'll add a few more topics to this one as well, and everyone is welcomed to add onto it. Thanks again.

    1. ETA is determined by how the progression of our list of members are added - the GB items individually have to be purchased (each and every time), to credit our content authors. Secondly, depending on the nature of the content, if it is for example in this case being a 2nd GB, we will cross-reference our 1st GB contents to see if anything has changed, and from there, those changes (if applicable) will be done. Furthermore, our volunteer helpers who do the actual processing of the GB contents do so upon their own individual time (keeping in mind that they are medical students, have personal life/family/etc). We're not an overnight 24 hour delivery service but do fairly well with how our community is structured with regards to how GB's work.

    2. Content will be available within our private forum (once all members have paid for their respective seats, products have been purchased/credited to the author. Notifications will be sent via Private Message (PM) by FUB-GI Staff and further instructions on how to download the respective contents, its login information, and so on will be presented there. Content is meant to be preserved within the GB community and is not meant to be resold/traded/hosted elsewhere as per how FUB/GI's GB Rules are made - much different to other places in comparison and it''s the only way we can continue to offer such services to our members. The contents are yours to keep indefinitely & digitally (i.e. on your own personal storage devices). Depending on the nature of the content, these will be released in the best way possible (as assessed by our volunteers who help). Formats are subjective and can be described within some of the following formats : fully searchable text/OCR, various video formats (e.g. flv/avi/mp4), screenshots and its PDF counterparts as needed, MP3 audio as needed and so on...

    NOTE
Regarding Interested Lists : the reason we have these lists is to gauge and assess the most viable time period to actually make a GB become Live - without enough seats, we lose the realistic opportunity of having enough members available to purchase the product(s). Moreover, the fewer the seats, the higher the cost per individual and we'd rather see our community members paying a reasonable seat price....

Now there is never a forced obligation to pay up (lol, we are not gangsters) if ever on the list nor is there an obligation rather in any sense (on the list or not) to pay for a secured seat once a particular GB goes live. Historically, from FUB-GB experience and now going into our transitioned GI-site (for GBs/MMGs), individuals might not be able to be part of the GB (who may have been on the list) for whichever reason it might be...

Keeping a payment link split or reserved for some and not others (for whichever reason such as they were not aware of the topic and just found that the topic interests them and they would like to join, which of course they can) would cause even further delays...

    NOTE

Definitions(work in progress, rough draft) - our members are encouraged to help in their own words... other comments to revise/add eventually are in blue

    1. What is a GB?
A Group Buy (GB) is an opportunity where individuals can come together to help make an equally divided and shared purchase on a product topic that they are all mutually interested in acquiring. These collected funds are then merged into one total amount which is used to purchase and credit the content author, and then in turn, delivered to our individual GB members.

    2. What are the “things” that qualify as a GB?

Any material that you personally feel will have a beneficial impact to those within our respective medical and business communities, can be set for a General GB Discussion. These materials should priced at a point to where a collaborative group purchase, will make an individual purchase much more affordable.

Please Note of "components" that do not qualify as a GB - (to be updated as needed, this does not mean that the entire GB is not possible, only those applicable components most likely will not be provided with the purchase of the individual GB seat price - such components would be discussed in advance prior to a GB becoming Live and/or approved by FUB-GI Staff) :

    * personal one-on-one interactions and or live one-one-one coaching/counseling/advising/etc... (where our volunteers' identity/privacy could be at risk)

    * events where a physical presence is granted

    * any component as applicable that may risk or reveal our volunteer(s) personal information and/or identity - FUB-GI Staff take our members' privacy and anonymity very seriously

    * anything customized (i.e. being offered within a GB product) that caters to an individual (e.g. personal career, life events, plans, writing critiques/resume building, etc) - some services offered within a GB Product may do this (as applicable)
    - however, this does not mean that the entire GB can or will not be a possibility and if any of the above applies, those respective aspects should be understood by our members on what realistically is and is not included - from there, it's up to each individual to decide on how to proceed.

    3. Definition of some important terms used frequently within our GB field & communication :

    (3 Phases)

    Phase 1 -
General GB Discussion Topic [Discuss GB] : This is the first phase and starting place for presenting a GB topic to our community as per our GB Template Guidelines. It is also the starting point for members to show their interest in being part of this GB, ask for more clarifications to the GB, and/or continue with constructive discussions related to the GB.

    Phase 2 -

Official GB Topic [Official GB] : This is the second phase where we the GB has been officially announced as Live, and a GB seat price has been established. The pricing, total number of seats allotted for the GB, reference information, and payment link will be found here.

    Phase 3 -

Ongoing Private GB Section [GB Links] : The third and final phase - Once the GB is fully paid for to the content author and post-processed by our GI Staff & team dedicated to handling the GB contents for initial release, paid GB members will be respectively whitelisted and also receive a Private Message (PM) that will direct them to a private subforum to where they have been given access permission. Here they will find special announcements along with login information to download the hosted content. Each GB is unique and so, how the content is released is subject to that specific GB topic.

    4. What are - 2nd, 3rd, 4th …. chances?

Once a GB becomes an [Official GB], and is fully paid for by our proposed seat reservations/slots, it will be closed. Under most circumstances, it will not be possible to rejoin a closed GB as the prices have been calculated for a select amount of members and the content authors have already been paid for. The only alternative then, is that provided the GB topic can be repurchased again, a subsequent GB of the same topic can be started back in the [Discuss GB] area. The topic will then be labeled with the same title along with what round or chance it is. If there are any pricing or deadline adjustments to be made, please make those changes accordingly. To determine which round/chance the next GB is, it is important to find the last [Official GB] topic title and see for example, whether it was a 1st time offer or 3rd time offer and adjust the topic title accordingly. Every 2nd, 3rd, 4th round/chance of a GB is done similarly and repurchased each time to credit the content author.

To your second question about a "download page," I'm not sure what you were referring to. Can you explain a bit more or perhaps some of the other members know what James was asking? Thanks.

    NOTE
To Manage Thread Subscriptions/Alerts and Instant Notifications - also applicable to Private Messages (PMs) [especially important for those who do not want to miss out Staff Announcements/notices]

Try going to thread tools from any GB topic and enabling Subscribe to this Thread > followed by going to your settings/notifications area > left side > my subscriptions > from there you can see/edit the style of notification type by checking the appropriate thread and choosing > instant notification via email. (PMs can be done this way as well) - you can also edit/delete other subscribed threads/topics from here.

Faster access to your subscribed threads : http://groupinsiders.com/subscription.php?folderid=0

    NOTE
As an alternative to [Official GB] announcements done via FUB-GI Staff when a GB is ready to accept payments (i.e. GB is Officially Live), you can try viewing the following link for any active/live payment links to join [make sure to read the related [Discuss/Official GB Topic] as applicable to know what GB you are participating in :

    http://groupinsiders.com/payments.php

You may also confirm your secured GB seat reservation by visiting the payment link found in post #1 of the [Official GB] once more and note that the GB Code for that respective GB, is now under your subscription list. Again, once this GB is fully processed and our members are whitelisted, new status updates will be delivered to you via PM, forum announcements, and/or via your MyGBs Notification Tab (located on your GI Homepage).

    NOTE

    Member Question :

I have a couple of GB's that I've purchased (they show up at the top of the page on the Payments page.

But they do not show up in MY GB Have I missed a step somewhere? Any help would be appreciated.

I've not participated in that many GB's here on the new system yet, but it seems like it's taking a long period of time to see any type of access. At least compared to over on FUB. Any comments on that or is it just a matter of transition to the GI board?

some GBs will not appear in your MyGBs Tab for one (or all) of the following reasons :

#1. The GB is still being processed by our Organizers and Volunteers after the [Official GB] has been closed (most of this is done behind-the-scenes) - until the GB forum has been made in the private area along with an actual post/reply made within there by FUB-GI Staff, you won't see any notice of this in the MyGBs Tab.

#2. Even if you see a forum made for your GB in question within the Ongoing GBs, you might not have access due to reason #1 and #3

#3. All of the above would only be applicable to a member who has paid for the respective GB and has been whitelisted (given special access permissions to the private GB area for that topic) by FUB-GI Staff. Some Whitelisting is automatic for GBs and some require manual whitelisting. These vary from GB to GB and also to the member's situation if there were payment problems, etc.

#4. Once everything is ready, or at least if initial updates are available to our respectively participating GB members, you will be notified via PM or announcements within the [Official GB] thread by FUB-GI Staff. Moreover, you may also visit the MyGBs Tab every once in a while to check on posts. Thereafter, for future updates and announcements, you can modify individual thread subscriptions (e.g. via instant email notification) for future updates

#5. Some exceptions to a GB that is in [Official GB] Status and has yet to be announced by Admins as either Closed or if the [Official GB] topic not in the Closed GB Forum area, may allow members to access material earlier via MyGB Tab : You would then follow the points made in #1-#4 as applicable. This exception may be given as an announcement by other members or by our Admins directly within that [Official GB] Topic.

    NOTE
Within your active subscriptions page, http://groupinsiders.com/payments.php

those are the actual GB Codes for each respective GB that was completed and paid for. That is there for your own confirmation in where the Group Insider's Automated Payment System, documented your GB seat payment - it is referenced via the GB code given on any [Official GB topic]

You can monitor your regular GBs through the MyGB's Tab (that is if there is actual posts submitted within that topic or else you won't see anything).

Additionally, you can view all your whitelisted and paid for GBs through one of these links (depending if you are monitoring either medical or business GBs)

    1. Business Field Group Buys - http://groupinsiders.com/forumdispla...eld-Group-Buys

    2. Medical Field GBs Section - http://groupinsiders.com/forumdispla...ld-GBs-Section

From one of the links above, you can scroll through the page and get to the OnGoing GBs subforum topics (this is where each individual GB is listed). For those GB topics that you are whitelisted & paid for, you can actually visit the thread (or note the date of last reply). For any GB topic that you did not participate/pay for (and if there is no whitelisting done yet), you will see a "Private" listing and no access is permitted to those topics.

Within all the Private GB threads you are visiting, you can subscribe to each thread (just like anywhere in the forum) via the forum tools, and you can get notifications sent to you via email/PM/notification icons once signed in.

Only admin create the Official Thread for the GB. This is decided in conjunction with the GB participators, and is determined by the number on the interested list, and whether admin feel costs can be covered.

Admin will organise a buyer (and it isn't necessarily the GB originator, these are separate functions. The buyers identity is never revealed).

No one can supply a product themselves, as previously mentioned, admin organise purchase.

Everyone pays the same amount for their seat on the GB.

NO trading, selling, or soliciting of such things will be allowed or tolerated. This will result in an instant ban.

NO refunds are allowed. The monies raised are used to make the purchase. Please choose wisely before making your seat purchase.

All decisions admin take in regards to the running of this forum and the way GBs are organised and structured are for the purpose of everyone's safety and security - buyer, members, admin, forum.

    NOTE
All GBs that can be paid for and participated within, will always have an [Official GB] tag next to the topic title and they will always be found in the "Opened GBs" forum (for either medical or business). Those are the ones you can join. If it doesn't have that title-tag, then it cannot be joined (e.g. closed, not an official topic yet, etc). Those GB phases (e.g. Discuss, Opened, Closed GBs) and how the GB process from start to finish works, can be found within the sticky global FAQ topic threads at the top of any subforum here on GI.

In some circumstances admin will waive the $200/20%, but this is at admin discretion.

#1. our content authors get paid for their respective products and FUB-GI takes care of EVERYTHING else for you It's THAT EASY and our track record of successful GBs in past, present and ongoing do show that -

#2. The videos (high quality formats), books (OCR scanned and searchable) and all additional content for a respective Group Buy (GB) as applicably offered, will be provided to you in its FULL entirety (unless otherwise announced in advance), and yours to personally keep FOREVER/PERMANENTLY(e.g. on whichever digital storage option of your choice that you own) - GB Content is never to be sold outside FUB-GI, redistributed/hosted elsewhere as per our GB rules & guidelines -

Additionally, depending on the details of a GB and what they offer, audio and other content (e.g. documents/slides/etc) will be provided as well.

    What is generally excluded :
long-subscription based products (unless otherwise planned and discussed), live-interactive (e.g. face to face sessions), personal coaching/counseling/advising/other services/etc (that would be only applicable to one individual and not as a whole to our members) are generally not included/done; unless otherwise mentioned/discussed.

#3. We usually purchase the cheapest (most-cost effective) access options that will allow FUB -GI Staff + our GB Organizers to purchase and acquire the items with all the collected GB fees that were used to purchase them.

So you have no subscriptions or deadlines of expiry to worry about. GB's that are on subscription base or otherwise have special restrictions are clearly discussed and approached accordingly for that specific GB -

#4. No additional accounts/memberships/subscriptions are needed for a GB purchase (The final calculated GB cost given by Upper FUB Staff per slot covers all of this) - meaning : if you ever participate in any GB, you are given the private links and login information that will be announced within the respective private GB forum (that you will receive a PM to once a GB is ready to roll out)

20% or $200 GI-Site Fees have resumed for all Medical & Business GBs

GI has begun adding back site & server maintenance fees (e.g. as it was on FUB) from over the past months, but we haven't begun this on the medical side until now again - prices shouldn't be too offset, and it's the only way the community board can function with all of the traffic and participating members utilizing the downGB servers...

Onsite & Offsite sharing, trading, reselling, and/or rehosting of FUB-GI GB Material to non-GB participants, negatively affects all of our members and paid content providers, and will irreversibly result in : a non-refundable cancellation of all current and previously paid GBs, Donor Memberships, & MMGs (as applicable) and a permanent revocation of your registered FUB-GI membership account(s) - no exceptions.

We are continually working on revised GB rules and behind-the-scenes security updates to protect the integrity of our GB community members, its purchased contents, and most importantly to our volunteer rippers, who take all of the added time, effort and risks to deliver these materials to everyone. NOTE

Volunteer, Technical Background. This is how all the group buys in medical and business have happened and it's thanks to those volunteers. Please PM Staff if you can help on any topic that you have interest in.

Group buys can't generally start without a single or few volunteers to help with this, depending on the amount of work to be done, especially if it is a lot of material to handle

Staff usually asks or waiting on volunteer members to contact them if they are able to help and have the tech background to assist on some parts. Sometimes finding a volunteer on a group buy might be the main delay outside member interests on the lists.

Most of our volunteers already have experience in these areas and usually staff prefers those with that kind of experience and other things which staff make on final decisions but not disclosed here.

How the volunteers learned is not by guides given here but by their own research across their hobbies and backgrounds. There is no general DIY guide for this and most of this goes beyond the nature of the topic.

If you want to learn about things like this, you can search online for how to capture and record streaming and live videos, editing videos to different media formats, make screenshots and OCR screenshots to make them into searchable documents, physically scan books and format them to PDF and OCR, handle other digital ebook formats, it goes on. There are thousands of guides online and on youtube to watch.

There is no one right method and completely depends on what kind of topic it is. Most volunteers don't just use one particular software or resource and have a collection of items. How they learned is by visiting other technical websites and forums. Look for Open Source/Free software based on those recommendations from such places you visit.

    Information

How to generate more member interest to join a [Discuss or Official GB]? How to create topics for general business or medical GB to either create new [Discuss GBs], communicate with other members for general non-GB discussions, tips, brainstorming, etc?

@any of our members who feel there is a topic that is either in a current, old discussion or ongoing GB discussion that is relevant to this or any discuss or official gb topic, can always refer to such links, as long as it doesn't lose focus of the original thread activities. Sometimes our members might not be aware of these topics and although our admins send out newsletters to update members of what is happening, your help is welcomed to get others aware and interested.

Other strategy and general discussions on a topic can also be discussed in either the medical or business non-GB areas. These forum areas can help others in deciding on topics to create as a new GB, join or just to have another place to brainstorm new tips and strategies.

    Hi vancomycin & mods,

Thanks for making this a sticky.

With the ultimate goal of providing some good support information for our member.... I wonder:

    1. How should we organize this info? I see that there are members who have valuable comments to add to this thread. Should I update my thread on an ongoing basis? Should we in general contribute to the discussion in the thread of the information post?
    2. I was thinking about writing/contributing to a GI General FAQ based on the excellent start of of vancomycin and Patriot and the latter's request for help in fleshing them out in another main forum thread.

To that end, it seems like if we have the following information posts

    Group Insiders General FAQ
    and
NEW MEMBERS -- Read this after purchasing your first GB
    and
How to start a GB - The Guide.

These would serve (a) to consolidate the information that is floating around and (b) be easily findable.

These would be a good start. Other suggestions, particularly from new members would be welcome.

I can continue to maintain the second, my original thread.
I'd be willing to contribute to writing the first.. I could start by consolidating the existing info Pat and Van have written into a new thread titled "Group Insiders General FAQ". Van, would you mind if I split up the information into more digestible chunks for consumption?
Alas, I don't (yet) know enough to write intelligently for the third post.

One caveat -- My time is a little tight until the new year, I'll do my best.

    Kriton.

Good suggestions there and I believe it will help a lot of new members and even existing members.

Could I also suggest this course of action, as that way it will keep things a lot tighter and it won't become as confusing.

As this could happen with trying to organize posts on these threads and they end up all over the forum.

If we could have the following information posts as STICKY THREADS...

1.NEW MEMBERS -- Read this after purchasing your first GB

    2. Group Insiders FAQ -- General FAQ

3.How to start a GB -- The Guide

Keep Continuing to have and use this thread, but could it could be renamed in the header.

Maybe call this thread something like.......
"Write Thoughts & Ideas Here to make GI The Best".

The reason behind this is that this thread will continue to stay active, with members continually adding any helpful advice, under the new thread name.

Then it just becomes a matter of a designated person to sort out the posts, then cut and paste from this thread into those separate 3 "STICKY THREADS".

This will certainly help new members and also save answering new members questions individually.

That way, selected members can have the links in their 'Signature Line' and just refer the members question in individual posts to the link in their post.

Anyway, this is just my 2cents worth of adding greater value to the Forum,
    ~am.

How long after the payment does it take on average to be whitelisted and receive a Private Message with a link to a subforum?
